Who we are
Vision
The vision of the Oakland University College of Arts and Sciences Office is to provide a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students. We will continue to work to empower a diverse array of students to pursue opportunities and paths toward their goals. We envision an office where students and advisers work collaboratively as partners on the students’ educational journey.
Mission
As an advising unit, we facilitate student success on Oakland University’s campus by providing students with timely, accurate information as well as with holistic support as they define, pursue, and achieve their educational goals.
Inclusivity Commitment
The Oakland University College of Arts and Sciences Advising Office is committed to continual work toward sustaining and improving a welcoming, equitable and just environment for all students and staff. We know that our community includes individuals who hold multiple intersecting identities across a variety of races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, socioeconomic statuses, ages, ability statuses, and military/veteran statuses. We honor these complex identities our students bring to their advising sessions and seek to learn from each student.
As a team, we value respect, collaboration, communication, inclusion, and holistic wellbeing. Our staff believes in breaking down barriers to education and advocating for policies that create a more inclusive campus community.
